Bong County, unbeaten at home in the tournament, was snatched after Bassa’s hard fought win during the opening match of the tournament.
The loss against the boys from Bassa was just the first for coach Sumo, who took over the team four months ago.
Despite the early defeat in the tournament, Sumo has vowed to face the challenge head-on and rally his players back on track.
“I love this challenge, I want to face it and lift the players. I am not giving up, be ready, maybe people are waiting for that, but I am not giving up!”
“Yeah I want to be here and I want to fight” he added.
Coach Sumo’s resolve will be tested on Wednesday when his team face Bomi County in what is considered a crucial match.
Bong players will need to respond quickly to their coach’s call to arms.
As Sumo prepares to rally his players, one thing is clear, Bong’s tournament will be defined by their response to their early setback.
Sumo would be hoping his side takes inspiration from his words and bounce back to make a turnaround from their defeat on Sunday.
