Monrovia – The senior national team head coach of Liberia, Thomas Kojo, has named a 20-man squad comprising 10 foreign-based players for Lonestar’ crucial away match against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers slated for March 24, 2019.
Lone Star needs a win against their host to make their third appearance at the Nations Cup after their debut in 1996 and 2002.
Kojo, who took over the nation’s pride and joy from Coach James Debbah, has won two games at home, a draw and a defeat away to Congo Brazzaville.
Speaking to the press when he announced his squad, Kojo is hopeful of a better result away from home. He called on Liberians to hold on to their expectation.
According to the former Lone Star’s right back, he believes in the players called up to produce flying colors.
In his words, he is still building a future team that is why he has given more local players opportunity to showcase their talents because if Liberia must compete with other countries, the local league must be strong.
The Team is expected to depart the country on March 19, 2019. The team has presently been on camp for the last few days.
Liberia now has seven points one point more than DRC and a win for the Lone Star means they will receive their ticket for the 2019 Nations Cup.
