Monrovia – The Liberia National Handball Association (LNHA) has received a consignment of sporting equipment from the International Handball Association (IHA).

The president of LNHA, Jonathan Kollie, told FrontPageAfrica that one of the problems his leadership faced is the lack of training equipment for their athletes. He thanked their international body for its quick respond to his leadership’s plead for help.
Kollie highlighted that the IHA has development aids for all its member countries and as part of that initiative they were quick to have started sending Liberia Handball Association sporting materials.
He disclosed that the first consignment of handball materials arrived in the country two weeks ago without balls.
Kollie has meanwhile extended appreciation to the IHA for their kind gesture and called on them to include more balls in their next consignment of equipment because balls are key in training materials that helps to better prepare athletes for national and international competitions.
“My reason of emphasizing on the importance of the ball is because we only have five now and those five are not enough for our athletes and it is very difficult to get some to buy not only in Liberia but also in any of our neighboring countries,” Kollie said. He also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for helping to get the materials from the Roberts International Airport on duty free.
“We want to appreciate Minister Zeogar Wilson, who was very helpful in writing the Liberia Revenue Authority to give us a duty-free for the consignment and also to the Commissioner-General of the LRA for honoring the Minister’s request and also to the National Olympics Committee,” Kollie added.
He called on handball athletes to take their training serious as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
