Through his humanitarian initiative, Team Ayew, the striker — who currently plays for Leicester City and is a prominent figure in the Ghana Black Stars — has made it a priority to assist Muslims in Liberia.
Ayew, known for his charitable work supporting orphans in Liberia, sees his efforts to connect with the Muslim community as a way of showing gratitude for their prayers.
Through Team Ayew, he has pledged to continue supporting the needy and less privileged, a commitment he intends to honor as long as he and his family are blessed.
In a recent message to the foundation’s Liberia representative, Clarence Lee Chea (also known as Coach Lee), Ayew emphasized that while he is not from Liberia, the close ties between Liberia and Ghana, coupled with the support he has received from Liberians, makes it important for him to give back to the country.
Coach Lee Chea confirmed that during Ramadan, Team Ayew plans to reach out to several Muslim communities, mosques, and Islamic schools across Liberia, distributing food, clothing, and educational materials as part of their charitable efforts.
The outreach will extend beyond Montserrado County to Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Margibi counties.
Chea stressed that Team Ayew is an apolitical, nonreligious organization dedicated to helping people in need, regardless of their background or affiliation.
He also acknowledged the challenges of reaching all areas simultaneously but assured the public that the team would continue expanding its efforts to support more communities.
“We cannot be everywhere at once, but we will continue to do our best to help our Muslim brothers and sisters during this special time,” Chea said.
In addition to his charity work, Team Ayew expressed their pride in Jordan Ayew’s recent appointment as the captain of the Ghana Black Stars, a decision made by the Ghana Football Association and technical team.
This recognition comes after Ayew’s brother, André Ayew, stepped down from the role after holding the position since 2019.
