
Monrovia – Liberia’s international midfielder David Tweh has comfortably won the ‘Midfielder of the Year’ for top Belarusian club, FC Energetik-BGU Minsk, after inspiring them to escape relegation.
Tweh’s visionary and dribbling skills captured everybody’s interest at the club as he helped them remain in the top flight.
His helped establish him as one of the country’s most renowned central midfielders. In fact, former players, scouts and pundits alike have even compared his style of play to none other than the former Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta himself.
The former Barrack Young Controller’s playmaker in his debut season in Europe, scored seven goals and assisted 10 in 30 matches.
Energetik ended the Belarusian Premier League at 12th place with 33 points. Tweh was instrumental in the team stayed in the league.
While David ultimately couldn’t lead Energetik to the top four or win the league cup in the end, big things are expected of him in the near future.
In his post on social media, David Tweh thanked his teammates for the support given him and promised to do more next season.
He posted on Facebook, “Special thanks to everyone for the Love throughout this year, it was really awesome, and the best is yet to come. #LoveMyFans.
“I am grateful for this international award and hope to do more because the best is yet to come,” said Tweh.
The young talented ball passer has caught the eyes of some big clubs in Europe but an official bid has not been placed on the table for him.
He added that his first season was not what he expected but said he will try along with his teammates to take Energetik to the top.
