Murvee said ISSA is struggling to host a successful league and needs a sponsorship for it to be able to run the upcoming 218/2018 league.
According to the former Assistant Youth and Sports Minister, the league kicked-off Thursday, November 22, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.
According to Gray, they are in need of finance to help settle indemnities of referees, who will officiate matches throughout the league.
“We want to make sure we find some solution to referee’s indemnities because ISSA had problem when it comes to referee benefit and this is one of the reasons why the league has not been ending on time because referee’s indemnity has increased on the association,” Gray added.
According to the ISSA VP it’s in the interest of the development of grassroots football if Orange can help sponsor the league.
Mr. Gary acknowledged that ISSA league is one of the key contributing factors to football and basketball development in the country so they need a sponsorship that will help to scout new talents that will be used for the various national teams.
“ISSA league is one of the best leagues and has produced some of Liberia’s most talk about football and basketball players, who played for the national football and basketball teams and also played professional football and basketball. So, we want to continue to bring up more players for future. But that can only be done through sponsorship from a company like Orange,” the association VPA added.
Mr. Gray also sent an SOS called to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to help organize training workshop for coaches and technical staff of ISSA in order to help them properly put into better use rules governing the league.
He said registration for his association league is still in progress.
