Quellie made his dream debut after scoring superb effort as Robert Lartey’s side thrashed Muscat 6-1 in the Blue Cup pre-season tournament.
Coach Lartey said he was delighted with the player’s debut performance against the second division Muscat and is hoping he can continue such performance.
“The kid is good. Coming on as substitute and scoring such beautiful good demonstrates his quality.
“We know that he has good quality and ability. He is tactically good on the ball; and technically, he has good skills but we will need to develop those attributes as technical staff. He is a very good player and his promotion will help the team a lot,” Lartey said.
Quellie was promoted to the first team for the 2019 season after fruitful years at BYC II where he won the 2017 2nd Division MVP and was instrumental in the BYC II being crowned 2nd Division champions. BYC Coach Lartey indicated that he has no hesitation of promoting the kid midfielder to the first team.
“We just need to build on his talent and coming to the first team, it will take him some time to adapt.” However, Coach Lartey stated that the lad has reacted to the intensive nature of playing first team football.
Coach Lartey, who last season had top scorer Trokon Myers in his rank, however, said that his side is in the transfer for a new striker to boast his attacking options. “We have bought only one defender. I think we will still be looking around to see whether we can add another player because we need another striker but we still observing the transfer market,” the BYC Coach said.
