Monrovia – Benjamin Thomas has been crowned champion of Liberia’s Strongman competition second Edition.
Known as “No Fear”, he beat off the competition from eight other competitors to clinch the US$700 belt and US$1000 cash prize.
The battle of the giants took place Friday at the SKD Gymnasium and became much easier for “No Fear” following the disqualification of defending champion, Abraham Mensah.
Mensah after going tied with “No Fear” demanded the organizers to add the 600 pounds up, against the rules, and later walked out of the gym after his request was denied.
Nino Brown finished as the second strongest man, while Strongman Harris came third in the competition.
The preliminary qualifiers of Liberia’s Strongman Competition were held on August 20, 2022, in Monrovia.
The competition brought the best and strongest men of Liberia to determine who is the strongest man in the country.
This year’s edition of the competition is the second edition with Abraham Mensah winning the first edition last year.
The competition that is organized by the Executive Coordination Team of the Liberia Strongman Competition, a featured event of JMK Productions, Public Relations & Empowerment Limited Labili will take place at the Libtelco Gymnasium in Telecom Community, Police Academy-Redlight Road, Paynesville, Liberia.
The weightlifting final was graced by Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson and Liberia National Tourism Association Boss, Mae Urey.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Fitness Awards also took place at the Renault Showroom on the By-Pass with several personalities walking home winning awards for their contribution to the sport in Liberia.
Hennista Wonder and Christopher Varney alias Believe and Believe won the female and male Fitness Influencer of the year.
Life GYM in Congo Town was named Fitness GYM of the year, while Unique Fitness Club was awarded the fitness club of the year.
