Fellow Liberians,
Happy July 26 to all of you, whether near or far. On behalf of the Liberia Council of Churches, we extend heartfelt Independence Day wishes. We pray for God’s bountiful blessings upon you as we celebrate another year of strength, courage, and determination.
As we mark our 177th anniversary, let’s remember that our founders gathered in a church to form this great Republic of Liberia. They established our political system, which, while historic, has also contributed to our lingering poverty and challenges. Today, Liberia remains one of the less developed nations, rooted in poor leadership and a lack of patriotism.
It’s time for a new dimension in our governance, where the people become the true masters of their country. As we celebrate this Independence Day, let’s reflect on our past and reaffirm our commitment to recovery and progress.
Despite our challenges, Liberia is the only land God has given us. The Liberia Council of Churches believes we cannot continue to live in the past. It’s time to confront our challenges with emotional fortitude. We must think outside the box and innovate. We need a new mentality, free from sycophancy, deception, hatred, and envy. These vices hinder our progress and patriotism.
In conclusion, let me share a scripture from Nehemiah 6:15-16. The wall of Jerusalem was completed in 52 days, against all odds. Nehemiah’s vision wasn’t just about building a wall; it was about reclaiming their identity as a people of faith. Liberians can embrace this faith to rebuild our nation.
Happy July 26, and may God bless you all.
