Monrovia – The 2024 International Pastors’ Day (IPD) was celebrated worldwide as hundreds of churches came together to honor and appreciate pastors for their dedication and service. This annual event, launched by the Liberian church and observed on the second Sunday of November, promotes a culture of gratitude and respect for pastors. Congregations across Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, and the USA celebrated by offering gifts, financial support, and heartfelt words of appreciation to their pastors.
The vision for IPD was spearheaded by Bishop Sam B. Oroge of the Apostolic Grace Mission, who highlighted the need to support pastors who often serve tirelessly with limited resources and recognition. Bishop Oroge hopes IPD will continue gaining momentum internationally and eventually become a universally recognized day for Christians.
In Liberia, communities held special gatherings to honor their pastors. In Sinkor, Pastor Benedict Kun led an initiative that awarded certificates to over 30 pastors in recognition of their service. Preaching at the Fire Arena Ministries in Brewerville, Pastor Bruce Samuel Tarpeh spoke on the burdens pastors often carry and urged congregations to show gratitude. Social media played a significant role in the celebration, with parishioners sharing photos and messages to honor their spiritual leaders.
The expanding observance of IPD reflects growing awareness of the spiritual and social contributions pastors make to their communities. Bishop Oroge remains optimistic that this tradition will spread further, providing pastors with the recognition and encouragement they deserve.
