“Let there be no doubt, CDC has the capacity to win and the ability to lead and we will lead,” he asserted.
She thanked members and supporters of the party who ensured that the Coalition proved its supremacy at the October 10 polls.
Senator Taylor boasted that the CDC won the ruling Unity Party in the first round of election with more than 150,000 votes and could perform far better in the runoff election slated for November 7.
“The might Congress for Democratic Change is very proud of the performance of its members across the length and breadth of this country and we’re confident that runoff election, we’ll double the margin and retire the ruling Unity Party,” she said.
‘Falsehood’ Debunked
Senator Taylor denied media reports insinuating that her health had been in bad condition.
“There are those who are making up false stories about my health and the activities of our coalition.”
“For the record, I am in the best of health and prepared to continuously work along with Ambassador Weah and lead our coalition to total victory.
“Politics aside, it is inhumane to wish ill health and death upon our political opponents.”
“This is not politics and we Liberians must graduate to a level where we can be tolerant of each other’s views, regardless of our differences,” she said.
She urged individuals and political institutions that are using media institutions as a conduit to spread hate messages, lies and division to desist from such act.
Senator Taylor: “In this regard, I am profoundly saddened by the colossal lies that the New Democrat newspaper has published.”
“I want to assure all of our citizens, especially Mr. Benoni Urey and Senator Prince Johnson, that neither me as a person, nor the CDC as an organization, is bent on doing anything that will divide our people and disturb our peace.”
“The front page story in the October 20, 2017 edition of the New Democrat newspaper is not only false and misleading, but reprehensible and without any basis in law and in fact.”
She noted that the CDC is a movement of peace driven by love for people.
“Our objectives are about helping our people improve their lives, restore hope and grow our economy as well as ensure that Joseph Boakai, a vice president without impact and action, is never allowed to come anywhere near the presidency of Liberia in the new dispensation,” she said.
She further lashed at media institutions for what she termed as “desperate campaign of misinformation and disinformation being waged against us by the politically embattled Unity Party and its surrogate media outlets, with the intent of distraction and political machinations.
Approach to Reconciliation
The CDC vice standard bearer said the Coalition remains committed to reconciliation and its approach to reconcile Liberia remains clear and unambiguous.
“The Coalition for Democratic Change embraces reconciliation as an indispensable part of our agenda for prosperity,” she said.
She acknowledged that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has for the past 11 years ensured that Liberia’s democracy is free of intimidation and abuse, noting that it is incumbent on all Liberians to continue in the same regard as Pres. Sirleaf in maintaining the peace of the country.
“I wholeheartedly condemn all acts of violence and intimidation that have occasioned our political transition,” she said.
