Winners from the elections will replace President George Weah and Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor who were elected in the 2017 presidential and general elections.
Both the President and the Vice President were elected in the 2014 special senatorial election, and their successor will complete their remaining six years in the Senate. Dr. Tokpa is leading against the CDC candidate Marvin Cole, who was elected Representative just six months ago in the October 2017 elections.
Unlike Marvin, Saah Joseph also a sitting lawmaker of the ruling CDC is likely to replace his political leader George Weah who won with 78% margin against the son of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2014.
