MONROVIA – Alexander B. Cummings, the Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), addressed the nation today, expressing gratitude for the support received during the October 10 election. In a passionate and resolute speech, Cummings underlined his commitment to bringing genuine change to Liberia. Acknowledging the vital role played by supporters from all walks of life, he thanked his family, campaign team, and the wider CPP family.
Cummings lauded the faith and hope of Liberia’s grassroots population, emphasizing that real change was not just his or Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine’s aspiration but the collective will of the Liberian people. However, his speech was dominated by his disbelief in the election results announced by the National Elections Commission.
In the wake of the announcement, Cummings voiced his skepticism, asserting that the results of the elections defied common sense and cast a shadow over the country’s democratic process. He argued that the contentious outcomes were sowing mistrust and dissatisfaction, thereby jeopardizing the nation’s stability.
Cummings acknowledged the sophistication of the efforts to undermine the democratic process but remained resolute that Liberians would not be demoralized. He declared that the people of Liberia were determined to protect their hard-won peace and democracy.
The CPP leader, in response to the disappointment and anger of his supporters, called for calm and resilience. He vowed to investigate the election irregularities and promised that those responsible for undermining Liberia’s young democracy would face consequences.
Emphasizing that real change was inevitable, Cummings insisted that Liberia could not return to “business as usual.” He maintained that the Liberian people deserved better and that their collective desire for change would eventually be realized.
Concluding his address, he urged all Liberians to remain peaceful and prioritize their nation’s well-being. Cummings invoked divine blessings on the country and expressed his profound gratitude to the people.
