MONROVIA – Grand Gedeh County Representative Erol Madison Gwion says the Weah-Taylor Administration merit a second term of office owing to, among other things, its exercising of the political Will to roll out road infrastructure that will connect all county capitals.
The District Number One Representative, addressing journalists Thursday on Capitol Hill, indicated that the people of Grand Gedeh and the vast majority of Liberians are convinced by the tremendous implementation of the dictates of the Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) and will thus re-elect the President in October.
“In our Constituency, our people are resolved because we have called on them to rally their support for the re-election of the President. President Weah has convincingly demonstrated and deserves 12 years of leadership,” said Rep. Gwion.
Gwion is favorite to win a full six-year term in this year’s poll in the District, according to multiple sources.
As local officials of Grand Gedeh recently announced ground breaking for the pavement of the Tappita-Toe City road corridor, the Tchien District lawmaker called the news a “big sense of hope not only to the People of Grand Gedeh, but also to all in the Southeast that the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to show.”
Rep. Gwion, said to be a pioneer of the Congress of Democratic Change (CDC), defected from his party in the November 16, 2021 bi-election and was overwhelmingly elected in Grand Gedeh County.
Gwion’s leaving the CDC grew out of disenchantment in the lead-up to said bi-election. He said now that the Party is ‘reconciled,’ he’s more committed to helping to ensure its success.
“Talking about reconciliation, I would like to use this time to appreciate His Excellency President George Manneh Weah, who continues to lead such a charge nationally as well as within the Coalition for Democratic Change – the CDC.
“You may recall a situation in the 2021 Representative bi-election before which we suspended our involvement with our Party and announced that we were going on loan. But today, through the instrumentality of His Excellency to unite and reconcile the Party, we are back on board stronger than ever before to help ensure his one-off victory on October 10,” asserted Rep. Madison Gwion.
Meanwhile, the Grand Gedeh lawmaker let it be known that it is incumbent upon all political actors to deescalate rethoric that have the propensity to derail the peace that Liberians have.
“I urge everyone within the borders of the County to exhibit tolerance and respect for one another regardless of political, tribal, or religious affiliation. It behooves us, political actors, to remove tribal sentiments from our politics and act responsibly for the sake of the hard-earned peace we enjoy.”
Furthermore, Gwion hailed his supporters in Grand Gedeh and abroad for standing by him for “the betterment of the County.”
He added: “We are on an irreversible path to sustainable development through a people-centered leadership that we have brought to the table; we are the Change you can trust.”
