Bong County – Senator Prince K. Moye has sharply criticized the previous Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government and former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for failing to rehabilitate the Totota-Phebe Road, a key infrastructure need in Bong County, despite her being a native of the region.

Moye expressed disappointment that during the six-year tenure of the CDC, which included a Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor from Bong, no serious effort was made to address the poor condition of the road, a crucial corridor for trade and agriculture.
“For six years, we had the second highest-ranking official in government from Bong County, but the Totota-Phebe Road was ignored,” Moye said. “This was a betrayal of the people’s trust.”
The senator announced that under the leadership of President Joseph Boakai, the current government has allocated over US$3 million in the 2025 National Budget for the full asphalt pavement of the road. Of that amount, US$812,000 has been designated for preparatory work, which is expected to commence by the end of May.
Moye described the road project as part of a broader commitment to deliver long-overdue infrastructure development in Bong. He also referenced planned initiatives in education, security, and economic development to address other critical challenges facing the county.
“This is just the beginning,” Moye said. “We intend to correct the failures of the past and ensure real change reaches our people.”
