Monrovia — The opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), has dispelled rumors circulating on social media about the expulsion of its political leader, Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah.

On Thursday, June 6, local media reported that the MOVEE National Executive Committee has removed Amb. Kemayah for misapplication of funds
intended for the party’s operations and programs, suspension and expulsion of key party members without any respect for the laws and constitution among others as some reasons behind their action against their political leader.
The decision, according to media report, was consonant with Article 19, Section 5(a) of the 2016 Bi-laws and Constitution, which provide that a simple majority of members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) is legally and sufficient to take to binding decisions for the party.
The National Executive Committee is the highest decision-making body, apart from convention within the party system.
According to the report, Kemayah was endorsed as political leader on September 22, 2022, at an emergency national convention, which has allegedly elapsed.
The report noted that a group, under the banner, “Majority National Executive Committee Members,” made the statement during a major press conference in Paynesville, on Tuesday, June 4, which was read by one Matthew Shan, claiming the National Chairmanship of the Movement for Economic Empowerment.
However, MOVEE’s acting chairman, Prince Mehn, providing clarity on an inquiry from FrontPageAfrica on Thursday, June 6, via telephone, noted, that the information is faked and is being spewed by “envious minds of defeated and confused individuals who have been expelled and suspended from (MOVEE) for gross violations of the party’s constitution.
Mehn said the removal of the chairman is the decision of the National Executive Committee and no member of the National Executive Committee has endorsed the said decision.
According to him, MOVEE went to a convention in 2023, electing a new leaders, in which Amb. Kemayah was also elected as political leader and that tenure runs for six years, running to 2029, before another convention is held.
However, he said the National Executive Committee can make said decision for probable cause, but no member of the National Executive Committee has made such a decision.
According to him, information on social media and other platforms that Kemeyah has been removed from MOVEE is sinister and a clever tactic to gain popularity at his expense.
“The information is a blatant lie. Kemayah continues to enjoy the confidence of MOVEE, and we do not intend to remove him through unconstitutional means,” Mr. Mehn stressed. That has never happened and will never happen.”
Continuing, he added, “the party is strong and our leader Kemayah has had a series of meetings with national leaders and coordinators of Montserrado County for the past weeks.
MOVEE is moving forward, Abass to fake information, Abass to pointless propaganda.”
Mehn noted that those behind said information has decided to propagate falsehoods and do not want to conform to discipline. He described the party as one that values discipline, and as such it cannot unduly remove Kemayah, who continues to support the part in all aspects.
He said the information is being spread by those he termed as “greedy politicians” who according to him, want to destroy the party.
However, he said the Executive of MOVEE will not sit and allow the part to be destroyed.
Therefore, he informed, that said information should not be considered substantial, as it is being spread by those intending to tear the party apart.
Also speaking with FronPageAfrica, MOVEE National Youth Wing Chair, Winston noted that Kemayah still enjoys the confidence of the party’s National Executive Committee, as such the information is untrue.
“That information is from the belle of the devil and there is no time said the decision was made. No one should take said information seriously,” Gaye berated.
Gaye further noted that at the time of the FPA inquiry, the full executive committee members were similarly at MOVEE headquarters and holding meetings for the progress of the party, contrary to information about the removal of Kemayah.
Meanwhile, FrontPageAfrica’s visit to MOVEE headquarters on Thursday afternoon confirmed the information that normal operation was ongoing.
Some county executives who were also seen at the party’s headquarters noted that there has been no decision made by the National Executive Committee, adding that those spreading falsehood are expelled members of the party who were intending to break MOVEE apart.
