MONROVIA – The Liberian National Union (LINU) has congratulated President George Manneh Weah for the action taken to arrest the spread of the Coronavirus in the wake of Liberia recording its first case affecting their political leader Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama, Sr.
Mr. Blama who is Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia contracted the virus while performing official duties in Switzerland to conclude a multi-million dollar project on behalf of the country.
“LINU joins the President to urge all Liberians coming in the country and those residing within our territorial limit to observe all the precautionary measures put in place by the requisite government’s functionaries.”
The political party emphatically stated that its Chairman; Dr. Blama upon returning from Switzerland on the 13th of March 2020 went through the screening protocols at the Robert International Airport, dispelling claims that he by-passed protocol.
“In furtherance of that, Dr. Blama kept very close contact with the authorities of the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute through Dr. Francis Karteh, the Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Mosoka, Executive Director of the National Public Health Institute for their professional guidance relative to his unfortunate situation up to and including the point of his evacuation to the quarantine center.
“The party regrets to note that despite Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama, demonstration of a high degree of patriotism to this nation by voluntarily unveiling himself to testing and sharing his results with the general public the truth of the matter could still not be revealed to the President of the Republic of Liberia.”
LINU in its statement issued Tuesday said it is deeply saddened by the ill-informed and advised press release issued by the Alternative National Congress (ANC) insinuating that Dr. Blama did not adhere to health protocols at the airport, thus claiming that Dr. Blama’s alleged action was deliberate and intended to endanger the general populace of the state hence calling on the President to dismiss him from his job.
“LINU wishes to clarify that Dr. Blama as an individual person in his sound mind would never and can never risk his life neither the future of his family or the lives of others by bringing a virus that has challenged the developing world to especially a vulnerable state like ours.
“LINU regrets but is no surprise that the ANC will issue the press statement as mentioned herein since indeed the ANC has never and does not intend to provide anything positive in moving this country development agenda forward as evidence by the countless negative public records they continue to establish against themselves since the coming into power of the administration of his Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah.”
“The party regrets to note that despite Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama, demonstration of a high degree of patriotism to this nation by voluntarily unveiling himself to testing and sharing his results with the general public the truth of the matter could still not be revealed to the President of the Republic of Liberia.”

The Party further described the call by the ANC to dismiss the EPA boss at this time when he is traumatized and mustering the courage to recover from this deadly virus as wicked, diabolical and evil at the highest beyond human comprehension.
“In concluding, LINU wish to remind the Liberian people that this global menace has transcended political lines everywhere in the world and would like to, therefore, request all well-meaning Liberians to join hands in praying for the country at large and the recovery of Dr. Blama and those who have come out as well as those who are still not known as is only then that the truth surrounding this hold episode can be told.
“We pray that Dr. Blama recovers from this very unfortunate nightmare and ask all Liberians including the government to give him all the necessary support for his recovery.”
