Monrovia — Mr. Alexander Benedict Cummings, Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), a political party within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), has termed his party as the best among the four collaborating parties in the CPP.
The Liberty Party, All Liberian Party, former ruling Unity Party and the Alternative National Congress are the four opposition parties that make up the CPP.
Speaking at the ANC headquarters Monday, February 22, Mr. Cummings, who welcomed new members to his party, urged them to recruit their friends and loved ones to have a change in power in 2023.
“You have joined the right constituent party of the CPP,” the ANC Political Leader said.
Among the four opposition political parties, many political pundits described the ANC as the smallest, something that seems to hamper the chance of the ANC man from becoming the arrowhead of the CPP ticket for the 2023 Presidential and General Elections.
But Mr. Cummings does not see it that way. Cummings, who is a former Coca-Cola Executive, is of the conviction that he is going to head the CPP ticket and prevent President George Weah from being re-elected in 2023.
The ANC Political Leader added: “You have joined the ANC that is dynamic, that is growing, that is determined to win the CPP nomination and to make President Weah a one-term President.”
To do that, Cummings told his partisans that it will require a lot of works and effort. “It will not happen because we wish it to happen; it will happen when we do the work and recruit and convince every Liberian to support us,” he said.
The ANC Political Leader said: “In the minds of Liberians there are only two political parties – the CDC and the CPP. And so, it is up to us to work and get people to the CPP by joining the ANC.”
Also, at the event, the party executives unveiled some new equipment that was purchased by members both at home and abroad. After a mini rally, a public address (PA) system and a photocopy machine were unveiled.
According to party executives, the equipment will ease their stress from the heavy cost of renting equipment for programs and office works.
