Monrovia – A Representative aspirant of Montserrado County District #14 says tribal and religious politics are critical viruses corroding the developments of Liberia and its people.
Mr. Kerkula Muka-Kamara said instead of Liberians prioritizing substantive issues, there are some who see tribal and religious politics as the opportunity to secure their interest.
Mr. Muka-Kamara termed such posture as disheartening and a divide and rule method strategized to undermine the development of the state and its people.
He noted that if Liberians cannot highlight and scrutinize substantive issues revealed by politicians in the pending 2017 elections, there is a propensity that the country might lose its true essence of democracy.
The Monsterrado county District 14 representative Aspirant was speaking late Sunday evening when a cross section of the District honored and gowned him for his numerous developmental initiatives.
Mr. Muka – Kamara welcomed the distinct honor, adding that it is a sign of appreciation that has motivated him to further improve the livelihood of the people of District 14 and its environs.
He emphasized that gratitude is very uncommon in Liberia; as such the recognition by the citizens of the District is a clear manifestation that they appreciate his little interventions over the years.
Mr. Muka-Kamara commended the people of district 14 but urged them to desist from what he termed as religious and tribal politics and prioritize issues that will help to develop the region.
Also speaking, the spokesperson of the citizens, Elder Mary Hinneh said the recognition of Muka- Kamara which is very rare in the community is due to his immense interventions.
Madam Hinneh identified the Watusi L$1.8 million reconstruction road project, the continuous cleaning of drainages to avoid flooding in the area and the construction of the longest bridge linking the different communities as developmental initiatives that prompted their actions.
She asserted that despite the challenges, Muka- Kamara has always worked along with them on ways to provide better livelihood for citizens in District 14 of Monsterrado County.
The spokesperson of the citizens of District 14 wants residents of the community and its environs to see reasons to rally support in an effort to elect people who will make a difference and not worsen their condition as it is be done.
