Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – The coming over of former Grand Bassa County Senator Gbehzohngar Findley to the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is playing well for the coalition in Grand Bassa County which is known to be the stronghold of Cllr. Charles Brumskine’s Liberty Party.
Senator Weah over the weekend displayed what could be considered as a great threat to Brumskine’s stronghold with a massive turnout during the CDC’s campaign launch in Buchanan City.
CDC supporters took to the streets of Buchanan early Saturday morning in jubilation while awaiting his arrival into the county.
Joseph Vah, a supporter of Weah told FrontPageAfrica, “I am voting for Weah because he won the World Best and has put Liberia on the world map for football.”
Harris Togba a Cdcian stated, “For me I feel that the book people have failed us, so I want to try George Weah”
George Weah’s arrival in the county rejuvenated jubilation as his supporters gathered along the streets to welcome him.
Speaking to his supporters, Senator Weah said a Weah-Taylor-led government would enable Liberia compete with other African countries in development.
Sen. Weah criticized past leaders for not doing much to improve the country, noting that he has the international contacts and the ability to transform Liberia.
“We the Cdcians want to see improved health system, education, road facilities and many more,” Sen. Weah noted.
“When I hear oppositions saying all kinds of things about me, I sit and laugh because they do not control my mind and they don’t know the heart I have for my country,” he said.
Weah claimed to have roots from Bassa and should therefore be regarded by the people of Grand Bassa as their own son.
“No one should fool you with any kind of sweet talk saying that Grand Bassa County belongs to them and it is Bassa man’s time. I’m also a Bassa man from mother’s side,” Weah explained.
The CDC launch in Grand Bassa, according to observers, is the second biggest launch to pull huge crowd since the campaign started.
According Senator Weah, he has been a major stakeholder in keeping peace in Liberia because he without hesitation accepted results of past elections which he believed were rigged, despite international observers terming the both elections as transparent, free, fair and credible.
The crossing over of former Senator Milton Gbehzohngar Findley to the CDC has proven to be a boost for the coalition In Grand Bassa County.
Findley and majority of his supporters are very influential in Bassa politics giving the CDC the chance to serve as a major competitor to Cllr. Brumskine in the county.
Senator Weah said the CDC have been in the the vanguard of promoting the peace Liberians are enjoying today because of the peaceful minds of the CDCians to except to elections results that they should have been victorious .
Sen. Weah at the same time encourage the citizens of Bassa to vote him and the every CDC representative candidates on October 10, this year
