“Crucified me if Weah is not elected first round this year,” he said at a press conference.
“We are not joking about a Weah’s first round victory—we are proud of being CDCians because they are patriots.”
Mr. Morlu is treading similar pattern of Milton Teahjay, who, in 2005 declared that hair should grow in his palm if Ellen became President of Liberia.
Morlu has been a controversial figure in the CDC.
In 2009, he lied about meeting President Obama in Ghana, the U.S. Embassy in onrovia refuted his claims.
He is currently a candidate on the ticket of the CDC, contesting to replace Rep. Julius Berrian in Montserrado County District 10.
Rep. Berrian lost in the primary to Morlu.
Morlu, now vice chair for mobilization at a press conference over the weekend announced plans by the party to hold a two million man campaign rally scheduled for the 19th of August 2017.
The CDC has a history of calling huge rallies during political campaigns. In 2005 and 2011 the party announced one million man matches even though critics challenged the numbers.
Recently, the NEC announced that a total of two million, one hundred eighty-three thousand, six hundred eighty-three (2,183,683) persons registered to vote.
Of that number per county, Montserrado and Nimba Counties recorded the highest.
“Several months ago, I told the Vice President that I will put on my boots, put on my jeans and campaign for him throughout the Republic of Liberia, but I don’t have that strength today.
But whatever I can do to make you President of Liberia, I will do and that is because I believe that the shape of our country will change, the circumstances of our people will improve and the trajectory of this country will change for the betterment of the people,” he averred.
