Monrovia – As the 2017 Presidential and legislative elections draw closer many Liberians are expressing their desire to replace President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as she prepares to exit the position and make it vacant by the end of her tenure.
Many in the opposition have labeled the Unity Party (UP) led Government as a failed government that is yet to live up to its commitments made to the people of Liberia. For many in opposition it is time to steal the show by painting a picture of sincerity and honesty that would give them voters sympathy.
To others in opposition the last thing they will want is what many are describing as bad apples in their camp, meaning individuals with questionable characters, people who are migrating from one political institution to another for personal gains.
Mr. Theodore Mombo, Chairman of the All Liberian Party (ALP) has declared Mr. Justine Zigbuo a wanted man by the party. Mombo in a telephone interview with FrontPageAfrica, said, Mr. Zigbuo left the party unceremoniously after he was allegedly held for misapplication of money entrusted to him.
According to Mr. Mombo, Zigbuo currently has in his possession properties belonging to the ALP, including laptop and furniture that he absconded with.
“He left the party unceremoniously, after he was investigated and found guilty for fund given him by the first partisan for Nimba County. Up to now he has not resigned and the next thing we heard he is with Mr. Alexander Cummings but he is still wanted by the Party,” Mombo said.
Justine Zigbuo former Secretary General of the All Liberian Party (ALP) who left from the Party for his role in the Party loan scheme scandal in Nimba County appears to be making his way into the Cummings camp.
According to information from the Cummings circle Zigbuo is a cousin to Cummings. Many are of the feelings that with his past record of misapplying more than one million United States dollars could stain the character of Mr. Alexander Cummings who many of his supporters see as the only stainless character wanting to contest for the presidency.
Arguably Cummings is considered one of the individuals in the Presidential race with financial power. It was reported that the founding leadership of the ALP which Zigbuo was part launched a loan scheme across the country that turned out to be fiasco.
According to media reports at the time the scheme turned into what many described as exploiting money from poor citizens who were made to pay for Identification cards to be given membership into the program from which they did not benefit.
Serving as secretary general of the ALP under his Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Lomax appeared to give loans in Nimba and other counties but the citizens of those counties complained that the ALP leadership collected two hundred-fifty (LD$ 250.00) from them (Citizens) for the purpose of ID cards which did not materialized, neither did they receive the loan.
This according to sources inside the ALP led to their defeat into those positions permanently during the recently held ALP convention.
Sources linked to the ALP have also told FPA that Mr. Zigbuo is encouraging his cousin (Cummings) to contest for the position of a representative rather than the Presidency which he believe is too much of a dream for him.
Mr. Zigbuo has told reporters that the incident in Nimba and other counties was because of the huge demands by the people for loan who requested for ID and they had more people than the money they demanded.
He is the current National Chairman of the ‘Wave of Cummings’, Mr. Justin P. Zigbuo. He believes Liberia next President must be a person that must create entrepreneurs, as well as the atmosphere to attract reputable international investors to come to Liberia for durable investment.
