Monrovia – Ahead of the November 7 Presidential runoff between the ruling Unity Party (UP) and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the South-eastern University Students Association (SUSA) has endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Joseph Boakai.
The Association in a press statement released on Tuesday, October 24, noted that the decision to support VP Boakai in the upcoming Presidential runoff election is based on the inexperience of the opposition party’s candidate for the runoff election.
“We are aware that the Liberian presidency is not a place for try and error or a position where an inexperienced candidate, who does not have any tangible working history can be given an opportunity to serve our beloved country that is gradually undergoing improvement in all sectors,” the press statement stated.
SUSA declared in their press statement that the UP Standard Bearer is best suited than any other candidate to replace President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as the next president of Liberia because of his experience in government over the years.
The Association described VP Boakai as a tolerant, transparent and nationalistic public servant, who has devoted his time and energy in serving the people of Liberia without been involved corrupt practices.
“We have agreed following heated and civilized debate among us to endorse the candidacy of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, who is an experienced administrator and also has an enviable performance record. It is an open secret that Ambassador Boakai is prepared to continue the gains we have made for over 10 years, as evidence of his tolerant nature as a presidential candidate, who is people-driven, morally upright and transparent based on his nationalistic public service record”, SUSA asserted.
The press statement further stated that they as students hailing from the south-eastern part of Liberia are prepared to campaign in that part of the country in making sure that VP Boakai is elected as the next President of Liberia.
The students association said their decision to back the presidential bid of VP Boakai over Senator Weah is because of the CDC standard Bearer inexperienced to represent the country both locally and internationally because of his poor educational background.
“Unlike VP Boakai, Senator Weah who is inexperienced can’t represent Liberia locally and internationally on ground that he does not have experience in public service, no solid educational background and can’t freely interact with world leaders based on inexperience.
Finally, we are prepared to campaign in all parts of the south-eastern region of Liberia to ensure that VP Boakai wins the Liberian presidency overwhelmingly,” they assured.
