Monrovia – The political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Alexander B. Cummings, says in order to transform Liberia, the nation needs to seriously rally around its mothers and sisters, and most especially the Church.
Liberia, Cumming said, is at a critical crossroad come the 2017 legislative and presidential election that is expected to bring about real change. He said such change that will improve the country must be generated, sustained and maintained by working closely with the women and churches of Liberia.
Mr. Cummings made the statement during an honoring ceremony last Sunday at the Christ Assembly Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Airfield, Sinkor.
Serving as Guest Speaker at a Special Uniform program of the Monrovia Christian Choir Association (MCCA), Cummings stressed that the improvement of Liberia depends on the efforts of “our women, mothers and sisters because they are important in the transformation of our country”.
Hailing the women of the Christ Assembly Evangelical Lutheran Church for honoring him, the ANC political leader said the event was significant because the church and Christianity, as well as other key religious institutions, remain critical in the development of Liberia.
He said Christians and other religious institutions must work hard to evangelize and build institutions that will positively impact the lives of the Liberian people.
Above all else, the ANC Political leader implored the church to pray that God grants him the wisdom and courage in his political sojourn. The rest, he said, depends on the Lord Almighty.
A product of the Monrovia Demonstration School on Clay Street, the College of West Africa on Ashmun Street, and the Cuttington University in Gbarnga, Cummings grew up right in the Fiamah, Sinkor community.
In his own words, Cummings’ parentage hails from Maryland and Nimba Counties. The former Coca Cola executive has accumulated more than 30 years of hard work, marked by honesty and integrity which he says will be very essential in transforming Liberia.
