MONROVIA — The National Chiefs and Elders Council of Liberia (NACCEL) honored its Chinese partners in Monrovia during a ceremony held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the NACCEL office.
However, out of the seven Chinese individuals who came to Liberia, only three were recognized by the National Chiefs and Elders Council.
Zanzan Karwor, Chairperson of NACCEL, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese partners and their entourage for exploring investment opportunities in Liberia. In a special statement, Karwor emphasized the importance of honoring foreign investors, especially those interested in working with NACCEL.
Referring to President Boakai’s inaugural speech, Karwor highlighted the president’s call for collaboration with countries like China and America for investment in Liberia. He commended the honored guests and their entourage as wonderful people committed to making investments that would benefit Liberia and its citizens.
Shery Wang, Image Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, who received the honor, extended appreciation to Zanzan Karwor and the Council for the prestigious recognition. Wang emphasized that the honor belonged not only to her personally but also to their team, symbolizing the hard work and significance of the collaboration between China and Liberia.
“I’m deeply honored to be a witness and participant in the friendship between the two countries, and I express my heartfelt gratitude,” Wang said. “I would like to give special thanks to my partners and our leaders, as well as to their dedication to dehumanization awareness against this hard label of the Liberian nation.”
Wang expressed confidence and motivation to contribute to the people of Liberia in the future, leveraging the highest honor given by the council to build trust.
During their nearly ten-day stay in Liberia, Wang mentioned that, with the assistance of President Boakai and his leadership, they gained a clear understanding of Liberia’s economic situation and various sectors, including health, education, women’s colleges, agriculture, and food security. She expressed that these insights touched her heart and inspired her to contribute more to Liberia.
Wang highlighted Liberia as a country of humanity and goodwill, facing challenges and opportunities. She pledged to lead investors in establishing economic development strategies to aid Liberia in achieving economic development through the collaboration between China and Liberia.
Jack Huang, Honvary Chiet of the Republic of China, was also honored during the ceremony by the council. She expressed appreciation to the Chiefs and Elders for honoring him.
She said it is his hope that he will be a good breach to the people of Liberia and China.
