Madam Dorothy McCarthy, a Liberian residing in the United States of America has accused the Millennium Corporation of daubing her of more than United States Twenty-Five Thousand United States Dollars (US$25,000.00) for a property she paid for more than three years ago.
The Millennium construction Corporation, is a local construction company located On the Roberts field Highways opposite the Edward Beyan Kesselee Military Barrack company constructing modern residential structures and selling to people who meet their price tag and requirements.
When contacted, Mr. Chester Smith who introduced himself as spokesman of the company confirmed the transaction. He however informed this paper that due to the delays in completing the project; the Company has asked Madam Dorothy McCarthy to do a request for refund of her money but she is yet to do.
According to him, the company has face circumstance beyond their control and is willing to refund Madam McCarthy’s money once she makes the request.
According to Madam McCarthy, in 2021 she was encouraged by a friend to buy one of the structures constructed since in fact she had been let down by friends and families who had betrayed and eaten her money she sent for land and property. her money for land.
She said, she earlier had reservation about the deal but because she was shown legal document by the company and convinced that they are people she could trust she paid the US$25K for a two-bedroom house.
“I was told that the company is different. They were backed by the laws. The paper work sent to me convinced me and they send me document and promised that if I paid it will take them just a year to have my property turned over. I paid for a two-bedroom house in 2021.
I was amongst the first group that paid for the House.”
In an interview with a local radio station in Monrovia, she also disclosed that, in 2022, she traveled to Liberia hoping that all is set only to find out that there was nothing avalible for her to stay which forced her to stayed over with her brother-in-law for one month and at the end of her visit she received a call from someone claiming to be an agent of the company to go with her at the site.
“After a month in Liberia while on my way back to the US, one Mitchell Kollie took me to the site and showed me one of the buildings. I tour the building; I was excited and she promised that it would be ready after another year.”
Despite the doubts on the first purchased, she was tempted to purchase another three bedrooms for business purposes but fortunately she held back spending US$ 100K for a three-bedroom house from the same company.
“I was also convinced by the interest from many people who had interest in purchasing a house also. I taught it was a legit company. I taught they were different from friends and family on the ground. I didn’t think they had intent to Dube me. I just wanted to have my own property and let the story be told that there are still good people in Liberia.”
