The Editor,
I read with much interest your article slamming the legislators for sending communication to the President regarding the payments due vendors for vehicles purchased for use of these officials of government.
My question to you at this time Mr. Sigh is “Why only the Legislators?” What about all the other agencies of government?
I suppose it is better reading for your customers when you slam this group of people whom you and others have labelled uneducated, rogues, uncaring etc.
Do you ever wonder if there are “some really dedicated men and women” who are providing needed assistance to their people and to others in need who flood their offices daily asking for assistance?
Do you think that these vehicles purchased were received without the approval of the Ministry of Finance without budgetary appropriations? Needless to say the answer is not in the affirmative.
Government is paying the Chief Justice, Associate Justices, Judges, Ministers, Heads of Commissions, Commissioners, Deputy and Assistant Ministers, Superintendents and other officials of government very high salaries, give then high allowances, provide scratch cards and up to 500 gallons of gasoline monthly; but still purchase vehicles for them. So what is wrong with purchasing vehicles for lawmakers. Many of these people actually serve their constituents.
I respect you for your journalistic integrity and hope you will be less bias of the entire legislature and give credit where it is due. I am very aware that there are some who have not lived up to their oath of office, but please identify those who are making a difference in the lives of their people.
Please accept my compliments and my concerns in the heartfelt manner in which they are intended.
Sincerely,
Esther Kpankpa Richards
