Holding Liberia up is about setting the enabling environment for having people everywhere to know that good things can come from Liberia. As some people say: what good can come from New Kru Town! But when the Publisher and Lawyer came from New Kru Town, they said that good things can come from New Kru Town. This too is Liberia. Good things can come from Liberia.

Look at what happened in the election in England a few days ago. Ms. Miatta Fahnbulleh, Niece and Namesake of the great Liberian Singer Miatta Fahnbulleh, now a citizen of England, won a seat in the English Parliament. She was born in Liberia to a Liberian Father and a Sierra Leonean Mother. The government of Liberia should be proud of Ms. Fahnbulleh and hold her up. By holding her up, the GOL would be holding Liberia up and creating an enabling environment to make Liberia attractive locally and globally.
This attraction would call the attention of people locally and globally to the likes of Liberians, the Daughter of Dr. Nehemiah Cooper who is on the Science and Technology Council of President Joseph Biden and Head of the Department of Sanitation at the Johns Hopkins University, not forgetting the Liberian who was the first African-American Neuro-Surgeon in the USA. Then there is the great Liberian runner Joseph Fahnbulleh, another Fahnbulleh, who just became the African 200 meters race Champion, not forgetting his championship performance at the last World Athletic Championship.
Holding up these Liberians up would be holding up Liberia in times when Liberia is down and the people of Liberia are moving without hope. Longstanding and widespread poverty of the order of the day. Legislators have access to at least LD200,000 a day and their foreign business partners have access to at least LD300,000,000 a day while almost all Liberian live in poverty having access to at most LD300 a day (The Annual Reports of the CBL, LISGIS, MFDP, MCI, WB, IMF, ADB and UNDP).
Holding down Liberia has to be transformed into holding Liberia up. The only way to hold Liberia up is to transform the prevailing unfair electoral system in Liberia into the enduring fair electoral system within the Rule of Law. It is only through this transformation that persons with good records can get elected to bring in the system of Justice, the indispensable ingredient for Peace and Progress in Liberia and in any other country.
