Monrovia – The sounds of melodious voices filled the air on Wednesday, February 27, night, when the Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ’s choir, joined the Little White Chapel choir and other guest artists to sing inspirational gospel songs in honor of the memories of the late Bishop Mai Roberts, who died at 97.
The thanksgiving concert, attended by family members of the late Bishop Roberts, Ministers of the Gospel, Clergy members and well-wishers, was held at the church’s edifice on the Bushrod Island in Monrovia.
The Faith Healing Temple choir president, Ms. Fata Kamara, said the thanksgiving concert was to honor their late Bishop, because she impacted their lives and taught them to know Jesus Christ.
“The time is now for everybody to know Jesus Christ for themselves, because tomorrow will be too late as the time is short,” added Kamara
The family and children of the late Bishop, headed by her oldest son, Minister Charles B. Roberts, were all seated on the front-row to witness the choirs and others administer to them. At some point, they (family members) joined in and sang along.
“We are very happy that the choir could honor our mother through songs. It shows how much impact she made on the lives of many. My mother had a great legacy; one of her favorite songs was ‘Lead Me and Guild Me.’ She believed that it was the Lord, who was leading and guiding us,” said Charles Roberts, the eldest son of the deceased.
Still coming to terms with the passing of their mother, he said he still finds it hard to live with her absence.
He was noted for always sitting by his mother’s bedside to keep her company when she woke up, every morning and before bed time, during the last days of her life.
“We are still trying to get used to the fact that she is no longer with us. I will miss her presence so much and the many happy moments we shared, while she was alive. I will also miss her wise
Minister Roberts said his mother had four biological, several adopted children and grandchildren and hundreds of spiritual children whose lives she had directly impacted.
Ms. Gertrude Harris, a granddaughter, who also attended the concert, said she misses her grandmother’s love and blessings every day.
Edith Bracewell is a member of the church and said she missed every good thing about Bishop Roberts, including teaching her many things.
“She made me to know God for myself. She respected time so much, that she was always on time in everything she did. Whenever we had programs, she was always the first to be there on time before anybody else. She never picked and chose among us, but you know to satisfy human being is hard.”
The remains of the late Bishop Mai Roberts will be removed from Samuel A. Starker Funeral Service, on Friday, March 1, at 3pm and taken to the Faith Healing Church of Jesus Christ on Bushrod Island, for a night of wake keeping, commencing from 5pm and funeral service will commence on Saturday, March 2nd at 10am at the church.
