Oh when I come to the end of my journey
Weary of life and the battle is won
Carrying the staff and the cross of redemption
He’ll understand and say well done
Rest in Perfect Peace my friend, my brother, and my business partner – Dr. Emmanuel Dolo…
By Rufus S. Berry II, MBA
On Friday the 7th of December 2018, Liberia lost a wonderful man in Dr. Emmanuel Dolo (one of Liberia’s Ebola heroes). Emmanuel and I shared so many good times together. We laughed together, we walked together, we talked together, and during the dark days of our nation’s history, we advocated together for peace, transparent, accountable, ethical and good governance. As one of my three business partners, we made history as the owners of the largest Liberian owned micro-financing company – Liberty Finance.
There are so many great times we’ve had together. I only wish it could have stayed that way forever, but the song writer says, God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform. And Papa God is his own interpreter, and he will make it plain. Fearing this awfully sad day would come, I had the special opportunity to have called on the morning of my brother’s returned to glory to pray with his son – his primary caregiver (during his last days) for healing mercy.
I will dearly miss Emmanuel’s insights, intelligence and company. He was pro-Liberia, a friend, an inspiration and my brother. Brothers are not limited to those who are born to the same parents, but they are a group of people who can depend on each other.
1 Corinthians 15:51-57
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?
The Holy Bible says, He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. Thank you Aba Hamilton-Dolo for being the perfect wife as God intended.
Thank you very much Emmanuel Dolo – for all the good that you delivered to so many, and for all those that you helped, both in Liberia and well beyond. We are deeply indebted to you and, already, we miss you enormously. We will never forget you. Rest in Perfect Peace my brother…
Sleep on, Emmanuel, sleep, and take thy rest;
Lay down thy head upon the Savior’s breast;
We love thee well, but Jesus loves thee best—
Good night! Good night! Good night Dr. Emmanuel Dolo!
