Monrovia – In a significant boost to Liberia’s digital landscape, Sethi Brothers Incorporated has donated 50 desktop computers to the government of Liberia. The donation, made through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), aims to enhance the country’s Digital Transformation Program, which is critical for improving access to technology in education and other sectors.
The formal presentation took place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, during the LTA’s Cyber Security Awareness Conference. The event highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity in an increasingly digital world and served as a platform for discussing the necessary steps for a secure technological infrastructure in Liberia.
Jay Khanija, Managing Director of Sethi Brothers, presented the computers to President Joseph Boakai through the Acting Chairperson of the LTA Abdullah Kamara, reaffirming the company’s dedication to Liberia’s youth and educational advancement.
During the ceremony, Khanija expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to Liberia’s future. “I am delighted to present these 50 computers to His Excellency, President Joseph Boakai, on behalf of Sethi Brothers, as a commitment to Liberia’s children and their education. This promise was made during our discussions at the Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul, where we recognized the vital role technology plays in shaping the future of young minds,” he stated.
In response, President Boakai conveyed his sincere appreciation for the donation, acknowledging the critical need for technological resources in schools. “Thank you, Sethi Brothers, for your generous contribution. As we discussed in Seoul, this initiative will significantly aid in the educational development of our children,” he said. The President also stressed that access to technology is essential for equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
This donation comes at a crucial time for Liberia, which is striving to enhance its digital infrastructure as part of its broader efforts to prepare the next generation for a technology-driven world. The Digital Transformation Program is designed to improve educational outcomes by integrating technology into classrooms and promoting digital literacy among students.
