Monrovia – The opposition Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) of Liberia’s businessman Simeon Freeman is demanding the office of the president to release the report into investigation launched at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
The MPC in a release signed by its party’s chairman, Oneal Passawe, is concerned about the investigative findings from the LDEA saga that is said to be submitted to President Joseph Boakai.
The MPC said as an opposition political party and government-in-waiting is equally concerned about the fight against drug and how it is damaging the future of the nation’s future leaders.
The MPC says if the proliferation of drug in Liberia must stop, the president and his group of “unpatriotic loyalties” should take keen interest in solving the problem at LDEA.
“The MPC will not rest in holding the feet of this government to the fire until the right thing is done, most especially at the LDEA,” the statement said.
The MPC disclosed it has received intelligence that the report from the LDEA investigation has been released to the office of the president and is not favorable or in the interest of the LDEA boss, Abe Kromah.
As revealed by the “intelligence”, MPC said Kromah, an ally to the Minister of State without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, is allegedly using his influence and closeness to the ruling Unity Party to arm-twist the report in favor of him.
“We hope this claim is not true, and in order to disprove this information in the possession of MPC, the president should take the lead and do the needful by releasing the report to the public and implement every necessary recommendation by the committee,” MPC said.
The MPC is, however, calling on Liberians to join the struggle for democracy and stand ready to lead and redeem the country.
President Joseph Boakai Tuesday, June 4, 2024 suspended, without pay, pending investigation, the director general of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Mr. Kromah, Deputy Director General for administration, Mr. Gbawou Kowou, and the Deputy Director General for operations, Mr. Hassan Fadiga, pending an investigation into rising tension and infighting among the three officials.
The President has in the meantime ordered an investigation of the events occurring at the Agency on June 3, 2024. He said, “the acts of disorder and chaos that took place at the headquarters of the LDEA were unacceptable.”
