Liberia’s Young Philanthropist Aminata Sheriff Intensifies Mission in Putting Smile on Faces of Underprivileged Children

Monrovia – One of Liberia’s youngest humanitarians, Aminata Sheriff and her team continue to make headways over their meaningful interventions in the community.

Everyone has dreams. Yet, not many remain unsettled until they see them come to reality. With the burning desire of change and passion to see smile on the needy faces, for sometimes now, teenager Aminata Sheriff has been on the journey to give back to the world by serving others through spreading awareness about compassion, and by being a role model to other young people for them to help make a difference.

Since she germinated into the realm of humanitarianism, Sheriff has proven that age has nothing to do with one’s ability to impact the world.

At the tender age of 14, Amie, as she is fondly called, was eager to put smiles on the faces of the needy and less privileged in society, most especially, children.

In order to turn her dream into reality, she started working with the underprivileged children in Liberia and also leading advocacy for child rights, and organizing psychological support for them but as we all know, “two heads are better than one” and teamwork makes dream work.

So, at the age of 16, Amie realizes that she needed a team to push the agenda of putting smiles on the orphanage needy and abandoned children faces. Fast forward, she and her industrious teammates established a local nongovernmental organization, tagged “Orphan Needy and Abandoned Children (ONAC)” Inc.

They aimed at promoting the welfare of less fortunate and vulnerable children and empowering them to break down the cycle of poverty in society. And through this objective, they have consistently led outreach activities to many orphanage centers across Liberia.

Their initiative has inspired other young people to come up with the glowing desire of joining the fight against poverty through charity. It is people like Aminata that continue to make us believe that the future is female and therefore we should positively support them in whatsoever endeavor they take to impact society.
