MONROVIA — United Christian Assembly Church (UCA), Cowfield Du-port Road, Paynesville on Sunday, November 21st, broke grounds for the construction of a new church edifice. The cost of the building is estimated at US$40k. The building will have the capacity to host at least 350 congregants.
“We really do not have the sponsorship, but we are trusting in God. With the help of our church members and other well-wishers, we are hoping to complete this project,” said Rev. Alexander T. Wilson, Resident Pastor.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, members and other well-wishers who graced the occasion, donated money and materials including bags of cement.
Rev. Wilson urged everyone in and out of the Christian Community, to come out and help support the work of God.
“I want to appreciate the founder of this Ministry, Rev. Arthur Mathis Cooper, and his wife Mrs. Sarah Cooper of the Pilgrim Christian Center Assembly of God, USA., servants of God and the entire leadership of this great church for all their many supports,” Rev. Wilson said.
Preaching on the theme: “Come and Let’s Build God’s Temple,” from the Bible book of Haggai chapter 1:1-9, Pastor T. Mulbah Godoe said Prophet Haggai’s call to rebuild, has taken roots all over the world. Accordibg to him when the Prophet made the call, some people told him that it was not time to build God’s house.
“My question is, when will it be the time to build God’s house? If I ask all of you right now how are things, everybody will say things are rough; but yet we are all building our own houses and going about our businesses but not God’s house.” He urged the congregation to make God’s business their first priority as he quoted Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Rev. Godoe further pleaded with the congregation, to put God first and build His house. He warned that should they neglect and refuse to build God’s house, they will bear the consequences.
“According to Prophet Haggai, the first consequence if we do not build God’s house, holes will be in our pockets and purses and we will work and reap very little. Giving to the work of God, will open doors for you. Your giving in the church, will speak for you. God will reference what you do for him,” said Rev. Godoe
He urged the church to stop joking with God’s business and worshiping in an edifice as “small as a size of a kitchen”.
“My question is why you are worshiping God in a kitchen, because the size of this church is very small to hold God’s people,” Rev. Godoe said.
At the end of the ceremony, the church realized L$32,500 (US$230 @ prevailing rate) and US$60. A pledge of US$150 and 21 bags of cement were made.
