
Montserrado – A somber atmosphere has enveloped the Day Break Mouth Open community following the tragic death of 22-year-old Masalan Konneh, who was fatally stabbed late Monday evening on the 17 of February 2025 by 15-year-old Sayon Kromah.

The incident, which occurred between 9-10pm, has left residents reeling from shock and grief.
Witnesses report that the two individuals were engaged in playful banter prior to the altercation. However, what began as light-hearted joking quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in Konneh being stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife.
Despite immediate efforts to rush her to the hospital, she was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.
Sayon Kromah, who works as a mechanic while simultaneously learning to repair motorcycles, fled the scene following the incident. His mother is currently in police custody as investigations unfold.
Community leaders express deep concern over the escalating violence among youth, emphasizing the need for intervention and support.
In a statement, Sedike Kamara, the youth chairman of the community, lamented the loss of Konneh, referring to her as a beloved sister to many. “This is a profound tragedy for us. We have lost a vibrant member of our community,” Kamara stated.
He added that the family is currently awaiting a police report to determine when Konneh can be laid to rest, as this case has been classified as a state crime, necessitating further investigation.
The heart-wrenching grief felt by Konneh’s parents and the entire community is palpable, with many coming together to mourn the loss of a young life taken too soon.
As the investigation continues, the community holds its breath for answers and a path forward in the wake of this devastating event.
