Virginia – Zinnah Dagoseh, 35, is a physically challenged young Liberian mother who recently gave birth to triplets at the home of a local midwife. She was unable to go to the hospital because she had no money.
The triplet – two boys and a girl – brings to nine, the total number of Zinnah’s children.
She lives in a single room with her husband and children in the Red Hill Field Community in the township of Virginia, outside Monrovia. Red Hill Field is one of the slum communities in electoral district # 17, Montserrado County.
On a fateful night, without money in saving, Zinnah went in labor. The physically challenged mother was then rushed to the home of a midwife, where she later delivered.
Speaking to FrontPageAfrica, she said her condition is worsening on a daily basis.
“I am not selling or doing anything. The pain grabbed me in the night; no way to walk and so, I delivered to one midwife’s house. Her name is Jartu. I didn’t give her nothing; because I don’t have it. This morning I ate dry rice with one single boiled egg because my eyes were turning. Things are just really hard,” she said.
Boima Dagoseh, 30, is her husband. The couple has spent more than 15 years together.
Boima says he struggles daily to feed his family, by doing several odd jobs – which has earned him the nickname “jack of all trade”. He does carpentry and masonry on several occasions as means of earning for his family.
Zinnah described her unemployed husband as a “hustler”.
“Since 2003, we’ve been together… my man is a hustler. He is not working but he can go in the bush to burn coal sometimes,” she said.
Lappas of different kinds are being split into pieces as diapers for the triplet. They were spotted wearing jumpsuits far bigger than their sizes.
Bathing tub, Vaseline, pampers, milk and other basic needs for babies are all lacking.
Zinnah admitted that their current vulnerable condition cannot permit them to ensure that their babies have all of the necessary needs.
“Right now, I don’t have anything for the children. I want people to help me. Even the clothes on them, people brought it,” she noted.
Zinnah and her husband have named her babies as George, Gbekugbeh and Jewel.
According to her, the babies are “pro-poor babies” so they were name after the President Weah and his Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.
Meanwhile, the struggling Liberian mother, who was born physically challenged, has sent out an SOS call to humanitarians and philanthropic organizations in the country to come to her aid.
She expressed fear that she may loss her children if adequate care and support is not rendered.
Some residents told FPA that the triplet may experience illnesses of different kinds, including malnutrition, if nothing is done to identify with their family.
