Liberia: Speaker, Reps. Gray and Fallah Boycott Rep. Lawrence’s Funeral

MONROVIA – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, and Representatives Acarous Gray and Thomas Fallah have boycotted the church funeral service of their fallen colleague, Adolph Lawrence at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Their absence has raised eyebrows amongst their compatriots attending the funeral.
Representative Gray told FrontPageAfrica that he chose to stay away from the program to avoid the similar disruption that occurred Thursday when members of the CDC and LP could not agree on taking the body to the Capitol.

“If you noticed we told all our partisans to stay away because we don’t want violence. Yesterday’s incident was instigated by Senator Steve Zargo,” he alleged.
In a Facebook post, Gray announced the CDC’s disengagement in activities leading to the funeral activities for the late Adolph Lawrence.
Funeral procession over the remains of Rep. Lawrence began with a long procession leading to the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Broad and Ashmun Streets.

The march with the flag-draped coffin was led by the fraternal organizations of the Catholic Church and colleagues and family members of the fallen lawmaker including his widow, Senator Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence amid tight security.
During his last days, Rep. Lawrence became a fierce critic of President George Weah and even the Speaker. He on many occasions outlines several misrule on the part of the pair.
He died in a car accident during the early hours of March 25. He was 52.
