Koinah recently distributed twelve rice milling machines, 500 pairs of rain boots, and cash donations to support local farming operations. The resources aim to enhance rice production and improve the daily work of farmers across the district.
The donated pieces of equipment were distributed to twelve towns, including Quoipa, Yopea, Yila, Zoewehysonor, Garr, Zowuah, Dolo Town, Quoikapor, Nakar Town, Yolo Town, Geakpallah, and Dahnken Town, benefiting 720 farmers from farming groups of 60 members each. This support follows a previous donation of rice seedlings and essential farming tools.
Rep. Koinah stated that this donation, valued at over two million Liberian dollars (LD$2,000,000), is part of his ongoing commitment to strengthening local agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
The initiative aligns with the Boakai-Koung administration’s ARREST (Agriculture, Rice, Education, Sustainability, and Technology) agenda, aiming to boost agricultural productivity and ensure rice self-sufficiency.
Additionally, Koinah announced the launch of a Swamp-land farming project in May 2024, designed to empower local farmers and improve their income-generating opportunities. The project aims to create sustainable farming practices and contribute to the district’s economic growth.
Koinah explained that the donation of rice milling machines will reduce the manual labor involved in processing rice, improving the efficiency and productivity of local farmers.
He reassured the farmers that his support would continue to ensure they have the necessary tools to succeed in their farming endeavors.
Rep. Koinah emphasized that his efforts aim to reduce dependency in local communities by improving economic conditions, with the goal of increasing rice production and boosting the district’s growth.
He called for unity among local residents and urged them to work together for the betterment of Bong District, setting aside political differences.
District residents, including local leader Mr. Nyan Yeezie, praised Koinah’s leadership, noting that his achievements in just one year surpassed those of his six-year predecessor.
Key projects initiated by Koinah include the rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads, tuition aid, and the construction of educational facilities.
In appreciation for his support, local farmers presented Rep. Koinah with live chickens and rice, symbolizing gratitude for the rice seedlings he provided and the positive impact his leadership has had on their lives.
