Capitol Hill, Monrovia- United States Ambassador Mark Toner, who arrived in Liberia on August 2, 2024, has been actively engaging with key government officials to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

Ambassador Toner met with House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa at the Capitol Building on August 8, 2024, where the duo discussed transparency, accountability, and fostering a peaceful environment in Liberia.
Speaker Koffa expressed his pleasure in meeting with Ambassador Toner and emphasized their mutual commitment to improving transparency and accountability.
Ambassador Toner has also met with other high-ranking officials, including President Joseph Boakai and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
In his meetings, he highlighted the importance of promoting democratic values, ensuring stability, and enhancing cooperation in areas such as security, economic development, and human rights.
Ambassador Toner, who has a personal connection to Liberia from his time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Grand Bassa County, expressed his eagerness to engage with the Liberian people and support the nation’s development, particularly focusing on the aspirations of young Liberians.
President Boakai and Minister Nyanti both expressed gratitude for the continued support of the United States and reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties with the U.S., particularly in trade and governance.
