In a competitive presidential race, Atty. Johnson defeated Atty. Peter K. Gbanyah with a vote count of 6 to 4, while the other positions were contested unopposed.
Atty. B. Myers Mortee, the election commissioner, reported that out of a total membership of 19, 10 delegates participated in the electoral process. She commended the lawyers for their turnout during the elections.
After the results were announced, Atty. Johnson expressed his appreciation for the competitive nature of the election, particularly the presidential race.
This marks Atty. Johnson’s second consecutive term as President, and he noted that his leadership experience, having previously served as General Secretary, has prepared him for this role.
Looking ahead, Atty. Johnson revealed plans to establish a permanent office for the Margibi County Local Bar, aiming to purchase land and construct office space for the first time in the organization’s history.
He emphasized the importance of members’ support in achieving this goal through fundraising or taxation.
In addition to administrative objectives, Atty. Johnson committed to advocating for the rule of law and addressing societal issues in alignment with the priorities of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA).
