MONROVIA – The Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), Atty. J. Adams Manobah, Sr, at the head of a two-man delegation departed the country on Thursday, October 21st 2021 for a one-week visit to Kenya at the invitation of the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) based in Nairobi, Kenya. Also on the delegation is Mr. Aryee K. Williams, Director for Administration with oversight for Human Resources and Training.
During the one-week visit, which ends on the 28th of October, 2021, the LLA officials will hold discussions with the management of RCMRD on a range of issues, including the training program for fifteen (15) staff who are expected to commence training in various land related disciples at the RCMRD in the next two weeks and future engagement for the mutual benefits of the two institutions in the area of capacity building through training.
The staffs selected for the training are from the Departments of Land Administration and Land Use and Management, and the training will cover GIS Applications, GIS Mobile Mapping, Geographic positioning System (GPS), Geodesy, Survey Instrument Maintenance, Land Valuation, and Land Registration. The training program is supported by the World Bank funded Liberia Land Administration Project (LLAP).
The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for development (RCMRD) is Africa’s preeminent in the fields of surveying and mapping including aerial photography, geodesy, remote sensing, etc, with amission provide quality geo-information and allied ICT products and services in environments and resource management for sustainable development in member counties and beyond.The institution was established in 1975 by the United Nations Economic commission for Africa (UNECA) and the erstwhile Organization of African Unity (OAU), now Africa Union (AU). RCMRD is an inter-governmental organization with over 20 contracting Member States, mainly in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region.
While in Nairobi, the LLA officials will also hold discussions with the Chairman and Leadership of the Kenya Land Commission on strengthening relationship between the two institutions, as well as discussions with other land-related institutions in Kenya.
