MONROVIA — The Joint Security has announced public safety protocols for the pending inauguration of President-Elect, Joseph Boakai, which is slated for Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Capitol Building, Capitol Hill, Monrovia.
According to H. Moses Carter, head of the Joint Security Media Relations Team, operators of vehicles, motorbikes, and Kehkehs are urged to adhere to these measures:
Mr. Carter said beginning Thursday, January 18, 2024, no motorbike(s), Kehkeh(s) heavy-duty trucks will be allowed to ply the Roberts International Airport Road to ELWA junction, while the Tubman Boulevard remains a “NO GO Zone” to motorbikes.
Carter added that heavy-duty trucks wishing to come to Monrovia from the route of the Roberts International Airport will be allowed to do so through the 15th Gate, Firestone Road, during this operation, while motorbikes and Kehkehs from Gardnerville and Duala will be detoured through Waterside and will return through the same route during this operation;
Carter added that on Monday, January 22, 2024, vehicular traffic from ELWA to Monrovia will be diverted to Jallah Town, Sinkor, by assigned officers, and on Inauguration Day, vehicles plying from Central Monrovia through Sinkor will be diverted to Jallah Town through Bestman Corner.
On Inauguration Day, Carter said, vehicular movement from 20th Street, 19th Street, 12th Street, 9th Street, 1st Street, Capital Bye Pass intersection, Bassa Community, and Conex Head Office, will be diverted by assigned officers.
He added that is important to note that those without invitations are asked to stay clear of the Inaugural Grounds up Capitol Hill, Monrovia, to avoid any inconvenience, and those with ACCESS passes for vehicles and themselves must at all times display them to avoid inconvenience.
“All gas/fuel unauthorized sellers are asked to stay off the main roads in and around Monrovia,” he added.
