Mr. Sachdeva is commonly known as “Jeety” in Liberia.
On Thanksgiving Day, Jeety with commitment and compassion ensures that those behind bars do not miss out on the spirit of the holiday season.
He provided hot cooked meal including water, soft drink to about 1,469 inmates at the prison compound.
He also provided feeding to about 500 disadvantaged youths on Center Street in Monrovia.
Jeety, known for his selfless contributions to society, involvement in prison outreach began over six years ago when he stated feeding hundreds of Liberians at his business center located at Via Town on the Bushrod Island, outside Monrovia.
Learning about the challenges faced by incarcerated individuals, Jeety commenced the distribution of food at the prison, including the feeding of some disadvantaged youths (zogoes) and subsequently took his good will to some counties, including Margibi.
Since then, Jeety has made it his mission to ensure that no inmate feels forgotten or excluded during time of gratitude and togetherness (holidays), realizing that many incarcerated individuals are separated from their families due to crimes committed.
Like this year Thanksgiving and every holiday, Jeety led his team to provide a memorable experience for prisoners, working tirelessly to prepare and pack the meals, ensuring that the recipients receive a delicious and heartfelt package to brighten their day.
Additionally, Jeety’s commitment to the welfare of the inmates extends beyond the festivities, as he has on numerous occasions, identified with the inmates through the provision of cooking and eating utensils, running water, electricity and other essential materials.
In a brief statement during the distribution of the hot cooked meal to inmates at the prison compound, Mr. Sachdeva emphasized the importance of second chance and the power of redemption, inspiring and providing hope for those who are hopeless and in dire need of help.
Jeety, in a passionate tune, offered words of encouragement to the inmates and prison guards, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in working to help those in need.
He, however, vowed to continue to support the marginalized population of Liberia.
Mr. Sachdeva further reiterated calls for his fellow foreign business entrepreneurs to see the need to work towards improving the conditions of the less fortunate and inmates.
For her part, the Deputy Superintendent for Operations at the Monrovia Central Prison, Janet K. Mulbah commended Jeety for his tireless commitment and contributions towards buttressing government’s efforts in providing feeding and other basic necessities to those being reprimanded or detained for crimes committed.
She also recounted the enormous contributions made by Jeety over the years to the prison facility including the provision of pipe borne water, among others.
The distribution of the food to the inmates on Thanksgiving Day, helps to ensure that no inmate go to bed on empty stomach during the holiday.
Jeety’s dedication to empowering the incarcerated and marginalized population continues to serve as a lesson that everyone deserves a chance and a life filled with dignity.
It reminds the beneficiaries of their potential and encourages them to feel like humans, desist from unwholesome practices and maintain the peace and stability of the country.
