Monrovia – Golden Veroleum Liberia Inc. (GVL) conducted four-day community collaboration workshops in Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties aimed at improving and strengthening relationships with its host communities.

The workshops brought together over 40 participants in Sinoe and more than 30 participants in Grand Kru county and focused on the review of projects within the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) signed with communities, the GVL Scholarship and Education Support (GES) programs, Community Development Fund (CDF),the role and responsibility of the Community Representative Committees (CRC) along with othermatters important to communities.

During the workshop, lead facilitator and GVL Vice President for Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Mr. Elvis G. Morris lauded the communities for the level of cooperation and support toward the investment and he encouraged the communities to always remain peaceful as the operation requires collective efforts to be sustained.

He further challenged the community to take ownership of the investment and protect the operation and maintainedthat GVL remains committed to working with the communities and living up to its obligations.

The CRC members applauded GVL for organizing the workshop which they found useful. They said the workshop should be conducted periodically to enable CRCs to understand and better fulfil their functions and further pledged their support in protecting the investment

In 2021, the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Liberia has bestowed on GVL the “Outstanding concession Company of the year 2021” award for its services to the people of Liberia, particularly in Sinoe and Grand Kru counties, the company for the past year has employed strategy that has promoted peace amongst its workers and the host communities.
