MONROVIA – The son of former Liberia Finance Minister and former official of Internal Revenue Service (IRS), David Farhat Jr., has become the first Liberian to join a top Global accounting firm based in Washington D.C., “Skadeens” as a partner in tax group.
The move, Skadden said, signals a strengthening of the group’s services in an area of tax law, transfer pricing and tax controversy increasingly important to multinational corporations.
Father Jr. moves places Liberia on the global spotlight of financial competence and create room for to tap on his expertise in strengthening it tax law and improving financial competence, if necessary.
According to Raj Madan, Skadden head of Washington D.C. Tax Group, Mr. Farhat extensive experience in Advance Pricing and Mutual Agreement (APMA) issues will enhances a broader tax planning and controversy offerings, and extend to clients a full range of services to navigate their most challenging tax issues.
Father Jr, is admittance into the global firm as it’s advisor to some of the largest U.S and international companies in mitigating their most complexes multijurisdictional on tax issues, make him the to hold such position.
As a Liberian to such global platform, Farhat, in a released issued Wednesday, May 19 encouraged Liberians mainly accounting students to take their study as a way of helping to fix the country’s financial system and improving financial competence.

Recently, Mr. Farhat served as partner at the Global accounting firm focusing on transfer pricing issues, and he has an experienced in all phases of international tax planning and disputes resolution, including in the context of the IRS’ Advance Pricing and Mutual Agreement (APMA).
He has has worked at the IRS for nearly a decade from 2006 to 2015 in increasingly senior positions within its large Business and International Division, handing transfer pricing issues involving at the United States of America’s most significant treaty partners.
Mr. David Farhat Jr., last served as Advance Pricing and Mutual Agreement (APMA), Team leader developing and negotiating and bilateral advance pricing agreements and mutual agreement producers, including the United Kingdom (U.K), France, Japan, Canada and Switzerland.
In the private sector, Mr. Farhat assisted clients in resolving contentious and complex transfer pricing dispute in various jurisdiction outside the U.S, including U.K. Japan, India, Canada and Australia.
His work has built deep relationships with tax authorities both in the U.S and other countries around the World, he also provided International Tax advice in treaty processes to resolve taxation and tax jurisdiction disputes.
Mr David Farhat Jr, received J.D. from the Syracuse University College Law, His L.LM. in taxation from Georgetown University, his B.A. from Syracuse University and he is son of former Liberia Fanince Minster David M. Farhat.
