In the highlight of the event, the senior alumni team triumphed over the younger alumni with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal scored by Anderson Chea of the Class of 2001/2002.
Cllr. Phil Tapeh Dixon, who served as Chairperson of the homecoming committee for the First AG alumni, spoke on behalf of his colleagues. He emphasized that the primary objective of their gathering was to contribute to the restoration and revitalization of the school’s learning process, with the support of its alumni.
He noted that the sports program was also used as a fundraising initiative to support the school’s scholarship programs. “We chose to hold our reunion through sports because it brings together people from different backgrounds. Sports like football, kickball, basketball, and academic programs such as quizzing helped position our school among the top high schools in Liberia’s educational sector,” said Cllr. Dixon.
“We have gathered here today to exchange ideas that will help us maintain the high standards of our former school and keep it among the best in the academic arena,” he added.
Cllr. Dixon described the homecoming activities as timely and called on his fellow alumni to remain committed to their goal of restoring and advancing the learning process at First AG School.
He confirmed that Alfred Boakai is currently serving as the acting president of the First AG Alumni Association and praised his working relationship with his colleagues. Dixon expressed hope that Boakai would continue his positive collaboration with the alumni until a new leadership is established. He also paid tribute to the alumni who participated in the program.
