Monrovia – The Director of the Executive Protection Service (EPS), Mr. Sam Gaye, has threatened legal action against Mr. Eugene Lenn Nagbe, Chief of Staff to ex-President George M. Weah, over what his lawyers describe as “defamatory and baseless accusations” made during a recent radio interview.

In a formal communication issued Wednesday by TOUN – YA Legal Consultancy and Arbitration Chambers, Mr. Gaye, through his legal Cllr. Kabineh M. Ja’neh, demanded a public retraction from Mr. Nagbe within 48 hours, warning of possible legal consequences if the demand is not met.
The letter referenced comments made by Mr. Nagbe on March 31, 2025, during an interview on OK FM with host Julius Jeh. According to the letter, Mr. Nagbe alleged that Mr. Gaye kept a photograph in his bedroom depicting “a gun at former President Weah.” The lawyers described the statement as not only false but also damaging to Mr. Gaye’s national and international reputation.
“The law in our jurisdiction is that injury may be offered to a person’s reputation when an untrue allegation or defamatory utterance is made against said person which has the tendency to injure the person’s societal standing and public reputation,” the letter stated.
Mr. Ja’neh, a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia and senior legal practitioner, emphasized that the accusations have subjected Mr. Gaye to “inestimable public shun” and reputational harm.
“In view of the foregoing, we are most respectfully demanding PUBLIC RETRACTION of these accusatory and defamatory utterances, within 48 hours as of the hour and date of receipt of this communication,” the letter warned.
As of press time, Mr. Nagbe had not responded publicly to the claims or the letter from Mr. Gaye’s lawyers.
The dispute adds to the growing political tension between former officials of the previous administration and appointees of the current government, especially amid lingering debates over loyalty, national security, and personal integrity in Liberia’s fragile post-election climate.
