Dr. Kaizer, who has over 15 years of solid experience in healthcare administration and clinical sociology combined with his applied knowledge in therapeutics, is proving critics wrong within a relatively short period since his appointment by President Joseph Boakai six months ago.
Dr. Kaizer’s achievements
For a hospital that had lacked drugs through out during the regime of ex-president George Weah, Dr. Kaizer has ensured that the availability of drugs at the hospital has remained one of his top priorities, with quarterly supplies in time.
Dr. Kaizer has earmarked the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Room, which he said will accommodate more patients amid during emergency cases. He has also planned to build a nursing units for nurses assigned at the hospital. FrontPageAfrica has gathered that Dr. Kaizer is also in the process of building an Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, which will be a special department that will provide intensive care medication.
Prior to Dr. Kaizer’s appointment, electricity was not stable at the hospital, but as at the time of filing this report, the hospital is receiving electricity for nearly 18-19 hours.
Under Dr. Kaizer’s watch, a new Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) lab for Lassa fever has been established by hospital’s partners, the Foundation for International Dignity in collaboration with University of North Carolina . The PCR tests are a fast, and an accurate way to diagnose certain infectious diseases and genetic changes.
Dr. Kaizer’s leadership has maintained a constant community engagement — feeding the elderly and disabled, a move that has been hailed by locals not just in Tappitta but the entire Nimba County. Also, payment for contractors at the hospital has been constant contrary to previous administration where contactors complained about their just benefits.
Health Minister Lauds Dr. Kaizer
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health of Liberia, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, has praised Dr. Kaizer for his exemplary work in the areas of sanitation, organization, and service delivery at the medical facility.
During a stopover on July 14 at the Jackson F. Doe Referral Hospital in Nimba County on the first leg of her nationwide county tour, Dr. Kpoto commended the hospital’s CEO and his team for maintaining the vibrancy of the hospital despite the numerous challenges facing the country’s health system.
“To all members of the health team, from security, cleaners, nurses, physician assistants, interns, consultants, and doctors, we extend our sincere appreciation on behalf of the President of Liberia. Thank you for keeping the doors of the hospital open,” Dr. Kpoto expressed.
For her part, Deputy Health Minister for Administration, Madam Martha Morris, also praised Dr. Kaizer, stating that the president made no mistake in appointing him. “Dr. Kaizer’s leadership has been instrumental in the hospital’s success,” she added.
In response, Dr. Kaizer welcomed Minister Kpoto’s commendation, stating that it would serve as motivation for him and his team to continue enhancing healthcare delivery to the people of Nimba County and beyond.
“We are honored by the minister’s recognition, and it will inspire us to further improve our services and meet the healthcare needs of those who seek medical attention at our facility,” Dr. Kaizer said.
