Liberia: Dr. Daniel E. Cassell Urges Muslims to Fast and Pray against Worsening Living Conditions

MONROVIA — The Political Leader of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, has urged Liberian Muslims to use this holy month of Ramadan to fast and pray for improvements in the living conditions of the fellow compatriots and the growth and development of the country’s struggling economy.

Dr. Cassell is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dr. Cassell’s Foundation and the Kwenyah Security Firm in Liberia.

Liberian Muslims recently joined their counterparts around the world in observance of the Islamic holy month of fasting-Ramadan.

In a Ramadan statement released in Monrovia Thursday, Dr. Cassell observed that the living conditions of Liberians continue to worsen, while the country’s economy is declining under the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led-government of President George Manneh Weah.

According to him, Liberian Muslims must use this time to remember their fellow citizens, most of whom are hopeless battling these difficulties in the Liberian society.

“As you begin this year’s month of fasting and praying, I ask that all Muslims remember our nation in prayers as the safety, economic and living conditions of our citizens continue to worsen and more people are becoming hopeless day by day”.

He recalled that last year’s fasting and praying for Muslims was a “difficult one” due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus Pandemic in Liberia.

“Many of our fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters who were with us this time last year, are nowhere around for this year’s event. However, the mercy of God almighty continues to keep us alive – a gift of life that we are very thankful for”.

Dr. Cassell reminded Liberian Muslims that the fight against Covid-19 has not ended, and as such, they should continue to observe the preventive measures put in place by health authorities to curtail the further spread of the virus across the country.

“As Muslims gather during their annual religious event in observance of the month of Ramadan, I want to say congratulations and pray that God Almighty grant you the strength and courage throughout this holy event”.

“For and on behalf of the People’s Liberation Party, I wish all Muslims in Liberia and around the world, a happy and successful observance of the month of Ramadan”.
