Speaking during the presentation recently, the Chief Financier of the Cummings Africa Foundation, Mr. Alexander Benedict Cummings disclosed that the move was intended to enable the beneficiaries have food on their tables during this Coronavirus pandemic and keep safe.

He added that the gesture was a “small token” portraying his own way of identifying with citizens, especially those who are vulnerable.

Mr. Cummings use the occasion to call on citizens to always wear their nose masks because, according to him, Covid-19 does not discriminate.

He noted that the Coronavirus is killing people indiscriminately around the world, and as such, Liberians should follow all of the measures put aside by local and international health authorities to defeat the killer virus regardless of tribe or political affiliation.

“We want to help in our own small way to donate to you people because we know that these are challenging times; and because we are blessed, we want to bless our fellow Liberians. I also want to encourage you to stay at home if you can, because I know it is a difficult thing to do. You have to keep observing social distancing, wash your hands often and let’s try to stay safe”.

In separate remarks, the beneficiaries commended Mr. Cummings for the donation.

They described the move as a “goodwill offering” that came in a timely manner.

The beneficiaries, particularly the less fortunate, however, underscored the need for government and other humanitarian organizations operating in Liberia to see reason to identify with them during this period in the history of Liberia.

According to them, the provision of anti-Coronavirus materials and food would help guarantee their safety in the wake of the pandemic.
